Successful Offspring

Amatcho's offspring compete in all three Olympic disciplines - dressage, eventing and show jumping. We would like to introduce you to his most famous get on the following pages and will also highlight a few horses from breed events and Young Horse Classes.

Dressage:

Many of the younger Amatcho offspring are winners in Young Dressage Horse classes at A, L and M levels (e.g. Marquis de Amatcho with scores up to 90%!). These classes are designed to introduce younger horses, ages 4-6, to the more strenious work that comes with connection and collection, but at the same time, offering them a fair field among other young horses. The levels are comparable to: A - US 1-2nd level; L - US 2-3rd level; M - US 3rd-4th level.

Currently the most successful of Amatcho's get in dressage is the grey gelding "Kavalier", whose first public appearance was as a stallion prospect in Neumünster, Germany, in 1999. Out of the entire colt crop of one year, only about 60 colts are pre-selected to go to the year's final approvals in Neumünster - the biggest Trakehner event in the world! These 60 colts usually represent the very top of each crop in terms of stallion material and it is an honor and quite an achievement to be selected. Our "King Louis" made the selections, and even progressed to the final rings in Neumünster. Subsequently not approved, he returned to his breeder's home in Zülpich, Germany. King Louis was a very tall grey gelding with truly magnificent movement and excellent engagement from his hind end. He was started under saddle and later sold as "Kavalier" to Jane Cleveland, USA. Mrs. Cleveland turned him into the United States' most successful 5yr old FEI dressage horse in 2002 and participated at the FEI World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, where the pair finished with an excellent 10th place (best US horse). A very serious injuyr sidelined the horse for several seasons - but he emerged on top again and is now winning at Prix St. Georg and Inter I levels. He won the ATA's HOY Award in his class and is on his way to Grand Prix in 2008.

Eventing:

The shining star among Amatcho's competing offspring in eventing is the black Trakehner mare Miss Meller TSF (out of Misan by Matador out of Mirina xx by Midnight Sun xx). Yet again, this is a horse resulting from crossing Amatcho's strong AA background with more TB through the mare - and Miss Meller TSF is a great example of the type of versatile sporthorse that can result from such a breeding. Her career took off once placed with Germany's outstanding Michael Jung - a younger rider out of South Germany who already took the Trakehners Bunbury TSF and especially the approved Grafenstolz TSF to exceptional international careers. Miss Meller TSF has been with him a few years now and won and placed at CIC*** level. She is one of Germany's most successful eventers from the past few years - and just started the 2008 season with an amazing win at the Stuttgart Indoor Derby, an advanced cross country course inside the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart during the CDI there. In March 2008, she won the CIC*** World Cup qualifier at Fontainbleau in France. Miss Meller TSF is sponsored by the Trakehner Förderverein (hence the TSF behind her name), which helps to promote Trakehners in competition - worldwide.

A youngster in the works, but with similar outstanding talent as an eventer, is the bay Manitu (out of Marnie II by M'Loshan xx). The following photos originate from a cross country training session. Please click on each photo for a larger version of the file!

Breed events and Young Horse Classes:

Of course, many of Amatcho's offspring are of younger age - with his success of older get came a certain demand for him as a breeding sire - and hence some daughters and sons have appeared at recent breed events like Central Mare Inspections and the Stallion Approvals in Neumünster, the auctions, and also Young Horse Classes all the way to the Bundeschampionat. We would like to introduce a few of them here.

Canzler

Amatcho's first approved son was a much noted youngster at the Trakehner Stallion Approvals in Neumünster in 2005, where he was approved and won the prize for the Trakehner stallion with the most "special blood" in his pedigree (meaning Arabian and English TB). Canzler's dam is the very good SPS+PS Cara Amada by EH Consul - Seeadler out of the Cresta Star xx mare family. Canzler was sold at auction to Gestüt Weldfried in Hessia, and became a State Stud stallion in Dillenburg/Hessia as well. His training progessed nicely, and after a great season with wins in materiale classes he passed an outstanding 30 day test in the very top of all warmblood stallions that year. His scores were 9.75 for rideability (test riders gave him 9.5 and 10!!), which made him the dressage index champion of this field of 32; his overall dressage score of 8.79 was the best score in Schlickau in that test; his jumping score was way above average as well (8.19) and his final overall score of 8.69 made him Reserve Champion in this group and the top Trakehner of the year. In 2007, Canzler qualified for the prestigious Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. He won materiale classes as a 3 and 4yr old at various big shows in Germany and his first foals were born in 2007.

PS Cara Fina

Canzler's full sister, the Verband premium mare Cara Fina, left quite an impression at her Trakehner Verband inspection and won the Reserve Champion title of the 4yr old mares. Her inspection scores were 8.5,7.5,7/7.5,8,8/8 for a total of 55 points. Like Canzler, she was bred by Renate Hagen of Garbsen - and like Canzler, her in hand training was conducted by Cord Meiners. After her inspection she was started as a competition horse and her first season was quite the success: she placed 3rd at materiale at the International Trakehner Bundesturnier in Hanover, and also in the final rounds of the Championat for 4yr old riding horses. She also took home an 8th place from her first 1st level test that same weekend (rider: Anke Quirling). Later that season, this diamond in the rough was sold to a successful FEI dressage rider as a future hopeful.
