Meet Amatcho, the only only approved son of the former Hanoverian State Stud stallion Matcho AA in the Trakehner breed. Despite few chances as a sire, he is a proven sport horse producer and carries unique bloodlines that make him an interesting alternative and choice for breeders of performance horses. Amatcho's offspring are international competitors in dressage and eventing; his young approved son Canzler is one of Germany's most exciting younger Trakehner stallions, and Amatcho's daughters are saught after for their genetic potential. We are proud to offer this outstanding stallion to our clients via fresh cooled semen. For information, please contact us!

The bloodlines:

Amatcho was a member of the very important 1991 approval crop in Neumünster, which also produced the close parental relative Stradivari (by Upan la Jarthe AA, a half brother of Matcho AA). Matcho AA was predominantly a good mare producer in Hanover (pictured left). His offspring were sought after as dressage horses. Sire Pancho II AA also produced Panchero AA, besides the already mentioned Upan la Jarthe AA who established a good line via Stradivari and his sons Key West and K2, approval champion in 2001. Second sire Nithard AA had tremendous influence on warmblood breeding, since his descendant Inschallah AA was a true stamping sire in Oldenburg and elsewhere.

Matcho's dam Timab de Fondelyn AA produced the international show jumper mare Taiga de Ferriere AA, who today is a successful brood mare in France. This mare family further produced the stallions Upan la Jarthe AA (related to Matcho AA through sire and dam!), Craf de Fondelyn AA (international show jumper), Dobcho AA and Et Hop AA.

Amatcho's dam, St+Verb PrSt Anna Karenina (pictured right), was a larger framed mare of 16.3h and was inspected with 7,8,7/9,8. Besides Amatcho, she also produced the SPS+PS Amazing Grace (by Guter Stern), who was a very successful show mare and good brood mare herself (e.g. dam of SPS+PS Andeer by EH Marduc). Interestingly, Anna Karenina was a full sister to the legendary EH Arogno, his full brother Avignon II, a leading sire in North America, and the stallion mother Arktis. Also from very close relation comes Acajou (by the Flaneur-son Damaskus out of ES Arcticonius), and the State premium mares Anna Ilona and Arusha (both by Flaneur). The stallion line established by Arogno is one of the leading dressage lines of our time and in various warmblood breeds. The most successful branches are via Karon - EH Caprimond - EH Hohenstein and the sons EH Münchhausen TSF, Insterburg TSF and EH Tambour, as well as EH Partout - EH Monteverdi TSF - Oliver Twist with the sons Grand Passion (champion in NMS in 2007) and Singolo.

Full sister ESt. Arkis II, also a highly decorated brood mare, produced the approved Arentino (NMS 1992). Today, Arentino is owned by the British Singing Stud and already has two approved sons: Singing Horatio and Singing Herbstglanz. Arktis' other foals included Argentina (full sister to Arentino, by Santiago), Anteus by Saint Cloud (advanced level eventer), Arktikos by Balzflug, who is successful at Prix St Georg level in Austria, and the reserve champion of the inspections in Denmark, Atlantis by Velasquez.

The offspring:

The relatively few offspring of Amatcho have been highly successful sport horses in Germany and the United States - with clear double talent. His grey son King Louis was a stallion candidate in Neumünster (dam by Erzsand *E*), and today is much better known as Kavalier, a leading younger dressage horse with Jane Cleveland in the US. He was the best placed American horse at the FEI World Championships for Young Dressage horses in Verden in 2002 and is competing at Grand Prix level now. In eventing, it is Amatcho's black daughter Miss Meller TSF (out of an Anglo Trakehner dam by Matador). Ridden by Michael Jung, she is winning up to CIC*** level and demonstrates, how well a TB mare base can work with Amatcho's Angloarabian roots. In 2005, one of the most talked about young approved stallions in NMS was the bay Canzler, again out of a dam that carries a large amount of TB blood. Canzler won the prize for the colt with the highest amount of TB blood in his pedigree, passed an exceptional 30 day test and won several very important young horse events as a 3 and 4yr old, including a qualification to the Bundeschampionat.

Facts & Numbers:

The Trakehner Verband publishes breeding index charts each year - based on the inspection scores of registered daughter for stallions with 10 or more daughters. While this is solely based on conformation and in hand presentation, we're still proud to say that Amatcho has an overall index of 105 and is hence considered a "positive" sire. His index in detail:

# of daughters

Type

Upper body Foundation Walk Trot Canter Overall impression Overall Index Size variation
13 107 90 101 113 120 98 98 105 - 0.4

Several of his daughters have earned premium titles (which are given for outstanding inspection scores and performance test scores). He sired one approved son so far; and the FN (German National Riding Federation) lists a total of 39 performance horses (as of 2007). His get have won a total of 18,963.00€ in competition (end of 2007), which considering the small amount of offspring out there, puts him into the top of Trakehner sport horse sires.
